On Twitch you are paying for live attention, measured in hours, and most of the risk in a campaign sits in one question: are the viewers on that channel real, regular and the right people? Follower counts will not answer it. Average viewers, hours watched and a few ratios between them will, and you can check all of them before you send a brief.
Is Twitch the right place for your brand?
Twitch works best for brands with something to show on screen: games, hardware, energy drinks, apps, anything a streamer can use live. The audience leans English. Half of Twitch's 100 biggest channels by hours watched in the 30 days to October 18, 2026 streamed in English, followed by Russian (15) and German (12).
The money is not only at the top. Channels averaging 1,000 or more viewers held 45.4% of Twitch's hours watched in that period, while the roughly 18,100 channels averaging 100 to 999 viewers held another 30.2%. That middle band is where a gaming influencer marketing budget can be spread across many creators, and where vetting matters most, because nobody has done it for you.
Twitch influencer tiers by average viewers
Here is how many channels sit in each tier on Twitch, Kick and YouTube Gaming, counting channels that streamed at least 10 hours in the 30 days to October 18, 2026.
| Average viewers | Twitch | Kick | YouTube Gaming | Twitch median hours streamed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 100 to 249 | 11,456 | 4,881 | 5,583 | 64 |
| 250 to 499 | 4,333 | 1,785 | 2,303 | 68 |
| 500 to 999 | 2,313 | 892 | 1,334 | 74 |
| 1,000 to 4,999 | 1,672 | 708 | 1,118 | 86 |
| 5,000 and up | 230 | 159 | 235 | 103 |
Twitch has the deepest bench in every tier below 5,000 viewers (at the very top, YouTube Gaming edges it 235 to 230). Below 5,000 it also has more than twice as many channels as Kick at each level, which is why a campaign that needs 20 or 30 mid-sized English creators usually ends up there. How to find Twitch influencers
Start from the audience you want and work back to channels. Three filters do most of the work:
- Game or category. Streamers who play your game, or games your buyers play, already hold the attention you want.
- Language and country. A Spanish-language channel with 300 viewers is useless for a US-only offer, however good its numbers look.
- Tier. Pick a band from the table above and shortlist within it, so you compare like with like.
Ranking pages give you the shortlist. Each channel's profile then gives you the history you need to vet it: average and peak viewers, hours watched, hours streamed, follower growth and the games it played.
How to vet a Twitch streamer before you pay
Look at the average, then the trend
Use average concurrent viewers over at least 30 days, and look at three months if you can. A single month can be skewed by one event. In October 2026, one English channel in our data that had averaged between 21 and 31 viewers in every month from September 2025 to September 2026 recorded a 50,086 peak, and its average for those first 18 days jumped to 877. Whatever caused that, the October number says little about what your sponsored stream would get.
Compare peak to average
Every channel's peak is higher than its average. The question is by how much. Across Twitch channels averaging 100 to 249 viewers, the median 30-day peak was 2.4 times the average, and one channel in ten had a peak more than 8.4 times its average. Above that line, ask the creator what happened on the peak day. Raids and launch days are fine; you just should not pay for them as if they repeat.
For comparison, SaintRiot averaged 298 viewers over 196 hours on 29 days in the 30 days to October 18, 2026, with a peak of 597. A peak twice the average, streamed almost daily, is what a steady channel looks like.
Check consistency in hours and days
A sponsor needs the creator on air when the campaign runs. The median Twitch channel averaging 100 to 249 viewers streamed 64 hours on 16 days in the month. A channel at that level with a two-week gap, or with 15 hours a month, is a scheduling risk whatever its average.
Check followers against viewers
This is the cheapest inflated-viewer check there is. Among Twitch channels averaging 100 to 999 viewers that streamed at least 40 hours, the median had 116 followers per average viewer and gained about one new follower per average viewer during the month. One channel in ten had fewer than 24 followers per viewer, and 1,282 of the 12,263 channels (10.5%) gained no followers at all or lost some.
None of these proves anything alone. An old channel with a loyal audience can stall on followers; a creator who moved from another platform can have few followers per viewer. A channel that is low on both ratios and spiky on peaks deserves a direct question, though, and a request for screenshots from the creator's own Twitch dashboard.
What our data cannot show
Our viewer data does not include chat activity or audience demographics. Before you sign, watch a live stream yourself and compare how busy the chat is with the viewer count, and ask the creator for the audience location and age breakdown from their dashboard.
What Twitch influencer marketing costs
There is no public rate card, and we do not collect rate data. Prices are quoted per deliverable: a dedicated stream, a segment, a read, a panel link, a code. To compare quotes across creators, turn each one into a cost per hour watched.
Hours watched is average viewers multiplied by hours streamed. A creator averaging 300 viewers who runs a three-hour sponsored stream delivers about 900 hours watched. Over a month, a channel in the 250 to 499 tier streaming the median 68 hours delivers somewhere between 17,000 and 34,000 hours watched. Divide each quote by its expected hours watched and you can line up a 250-viewer creator against a 2,000-viewer one on the same scale.
Streamers see this from the other side, and our guide to Twitch sponsorship shows what they are told to put in a media kit.
How to measure a Twitch campaign
Set the baseline before the campaign starts: the creator's 30-day average viewers and hours watched. Then track three things:
- hours watched on the sponsored streams against that baseline, which tells you whether you got the audience you paid for
- code uses, link clicks or sign-ups, attributed per creator
- the creator's follower and viewer trend for a few weeks after, which shows whether the activation hurt or helped them
Ask for the VODs to stay up for the length of the campaign so you can check the integration itself.
Kick and YouTube Gaming as alternatives
Kick is smaller and skews to Spanish, Arabic and Portuguese, which makes it the better buy for some markets. Price it differently, though. Kick channels averaging 100 to 999 viewers had a median of 23 followers per average viewer against Twitch's 116, and their peaks are much spikier, so follower counts and peaks tell you less there. Our Kick vs Twitch comparison covers the full picture, and the Kick rankings list the current leaders.
YouTube Gaming had 10,573 channels averaging 100 or more viewers in the same period, more than Kick's 8,425. Its live streams also stay up as VODs, which suits a brand that wants the integration to keep working after the stream ends. Start from the YouTube Gaming rankings.
About the data
All figures are Streamer Radar data for September 19 to October 18, 2026. Average viewers is a channel's time-weighted average concurrent viewers across all its streams in the window. Tier counts include channels that streamed at least 10 hours; follower ratios use channels that streamed at least 40. Very small channels are undercounted, so counts are floors.
