Most advice on getting Twitch viewers is a list of 20 tips with no way to tell which ones matter. We took a different route and looked at channels that actually grew. In the 30 days to October 18, 2026, 3,319 English-language Twitch channels averaged between 150 and 800 viewers over at least 50 hours of streaming. A year earlier, only 88 of them had been averaging under 30 viewers while streaming regularly. Those 88 did a few things differently, and the differences are measurable.
Most mid-sized channels were already mid-sized a year ago
Growth on Twitch is slower than the success stories make it look. Of the 3,319 channels, 2,833 had also streamed at least 20 hours in the same 30-day window in 2025. Their median channel grew its average viewers by 1.26 times in a year, 61% of them grew by 1.5 times or less, and only 15% tripled.
So if your numbers are moving slowly, you are in the majority. The useful question is what the fast risers did that the rest did not.
What the channels that grew from under 30 viewers changed
We compared the 88 risers with the 1,719 channels that stayed roughly flat (1.5 times growth or less), using the same 30-day window a year apart.
| Risers, 2025 | Risers, 2026 | Flat channels, 2025 | Flat channels, 2026 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Median hours streamed in 30 days | 65 | 122 | 113 | 109 |
| Median days live in 30 days | 19 | 23 | 21 | 21 |
| Median number of games streamed | 4 | 2 | 5 | 4 |
Two changes stand out. The risers almost doubled their hours, from 65 to 122 a month, while the flat channels stayed where they were. And they halved the number of games they played, from four to two.
Neither change guarantees growth. Plenty of channels stream 120 hours a month to nobody, and correlation in a group of 88 is not a recipe. It does fit how Twitch discovery works: viewers find you while browsing a category, and every hour you are live in a category where you can rank is another chance to be found.
How to get more viewers on Twitch: four real channels
Here are four of the channels behind those numbers, with their monthly average viewers. All four stream in English and all four were small in September 2025.
| Month | LyesVal | CoffeeVert | Sacred | Taveraco |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| September 2025 | 8 | 13 | 6 | 13 |
| December 2025 | 15 | 10 | 34 | 58 |
| March 2026 | 112 | 54 | 97 | 134 |
| June 2026 | 448 | 82 | 145 | 72 |
| September 2026 | 512 | 431 | 355 | 105 |
LyesVal: more hours on one new game
LyesVal streamed 38 hours in September 2025, mostly Valorant, and averaged 8 viewers. From November the channel moved onto Arc Raiders, a new release, and the hours climbed: 185 in January 2026, 293 in May, 402 in August. The average followed, from 68 in January to 448 in June and 512 in September. In the 30 days to October 18, LyesVal was live on all 30 days.
CoffeeVert: narrowing down
CoffeeVert played eight different games in September and October 2025 and hovered around 13 viewers. In January 2026 the channel streamed only Arc Raiders, and in most months since it has stuck to one or two games. Viewers went from 23 on average in January to 115 in April, dipped to 92 and then 82 when the variety returned in May and June, then climbed to 262 in August and 431 in September, with hours rising from 64 to 195 a month along the way.
Sacred: one game, every day
Sacred has streamed Apex Legends almost exclusively for the whole period, on 22 to 30 days a month. The climb was not smooth: 6 viewers in September 2025, 34 by December, then a long flat stretch, then 97 in March 2026, 202 in May, a dip to 120 in July and 355 in September.
Taveraco: a launch wave, then a plateau
Taveraco went all in on Battlefield 6 at its launch in October 2025 and streamed on 28 to 31 days of every month from November 2025 to August 2026. Its average rose from 16 in October 2025 to 134 in March 2026, slid to 72 by June, and recovered to 105 by September. A new game can lift a small channel fast. Expect part of that audience to leave with the hype.
How to get 3 average viewers on Twitch
Three average viewers matters because it is part of the Affiliate bar. Since June 2026, Twitch's Affiliate criteria ask for 4 hours of streaming on 4 different days, a minimum of 3 average concurrent viewers on those days and 25 followers.
Our data is weakest at this size, because channels with one or two viewers are only partly captured, so we will not give you a statistic here. What the risers above show still applies. Pick a game where your stream can appear on the first screen of the category, stream it on a fixed schedule, and bring your first viewers from outside Twitch: friends, a Discord you are already part of, short clips on other platforms. The first three viewers are almost always people who already know you.
Best ways to get viewers on Twitch, ranked by what the data supports
- Stream more hours on a schedule. This is the strongest pattern in our numbers: the risers went from 65 to 122 hours a month and from 19 to 23 days live.
- Narrow your game list. The risers dropped from four games a month to two, and all four channels above built their growth on one main title.
- Catch a new game early. LyesVal and CoffeeVert grew on Arc Raiders, Taveraco on Battlefield 6. Being established in a category before it gets crowded is easier than breaking into one that already is.
- Expect plateaus and dips. All four channels above had months where the average fell, in Taveraco's case for three months in a row.
Everything else on the usual tips lists (titles, tags, overlays, networking, clips) may help too. We just cannot measure it from viewer data, so we will not rank it.
FAQ
How can I get 10 Twitch viewers for free?
Stream on a fixed schedule, in one game or category where your stream shows up near the top of the directory, and bring people who already know you from Discord or other platforms. Growing from 10 to 100 is mostly the hours-and-focus pattern shown above.
Is buying views on Twitch illegal?
It breaks Twitch's rules. The Community Guidelines list artificially inflating live viewer or follower stats as viewership tampering, and Twitch says accounts that use viewbot services can be suspended, up to indefinitely. Brands check for it too, as our Twitch sponsorship guide explains.
Should I move to Kick to get more viewers?
Only if your audience is there. At the same size, follower growth on Kick and Twitch is close, and nine of the eleven big simulcasters we tracked drew bigger crowds on Twitch. Our Kick vs Twitch comparison has the numbers, and the Twitch rankings show who is growing right now.
About the data
All figures are Streamer Radar data. The cohort is English-language Twitch channels that averaged 150 to 800 viewers over 50+ hours in the 30 days to October 18, 2026, compared with their own figures for the same 30-day window in 2025 (channels that streamed at least 20 hours then). Average viewers is a channel's time-weighted average concurrent viewers. Monthly figures are calendar months. Sacred streamed under a different channel name until April 2026; its history is tracked by channel ID.
